To add an extra tail light to your trailer, I recommend using a Trailer Tail Light like the Optronics # STL8RB. This light will give you stop light, turn signal light and tail light functions and will mount to any surface using the included studs.

The lights included in LED light kit # TLL16RK are 18 diode lights and they mount using bolts that you would have to screw into a solid frame part of the trailer and then the lights hand on the bolt heads. This is probably not the best solution for you.

It sounds like there is too much amperage being drawn on your trailer when the headlights are on and it is too much for the trailer so everything shuts off. This could be because of a bad ground somewhere.
First thing I would do is check the grounds on the trailer for any loose wiring and corrosion and fix as necessary. If the grounds are good you might need to convert your trailer lights to LED lights so as to minimize the draw on the trailer light circuits.

In order to run reverse lights on a trailer they will need to be powered through the trailer connector. If you have a 7-way trailer connector which is most common then there will already be a terminal for the reverse light circuit which is activated by the vehicle. This means you will need to run a wire like part # 12-1-1 from the front of the trailer to the rear but there is no way around that to my knowledge. I spoke with my contact at Optronics and he informed me that this Optronics Trailer Light, part # BUL78C3MB, is certified to be used as a utility light for a trailer but not as a reverse light.
He said that if you were to use this as a reverse light he would recommend that you contact your state and local laws to determine if that would be an issue for passing inspections. He also said that these lights will not be as bright as most reverse lights normally are.

The vehicle-to-vehicle taillight converter part # 118158 will do what you want: separate the Ram's combined stop/turn signals into separate signals that can be fed to separate stop and turn lights on your vintage Airstream.

I looked at some pictures of your 2000 Ranger Comanche trailer and it appears that the tail lights are the rectangular ones and you could replace them with LED lights # TLL160RK. These lights hang on studs spaced 2 inches apart on center. Each light is 8-1/16" long x 2-7/8" wide x 2-13/16" deep.
